The first album by Davide Mantovani shows his instinctive flair for writing - previously a well kept secret.

Davide Mantovani has drawn on his knowledge and feel for world music and created an album with textures from South America, the Caribbean and Eastern Europe infused with jazz. This truly is a fusion album but one where the compositions take centre stage.

Davide is known on the scene as a bass player whose flawless technique never gets in the way of his natural feel & groove.
This album is a reflection of that and you'd never know the leader was a bass player.

This album is the result of a collaborative project with theatre director George Eugeniou.

Originally written as the soundtrack for the play "Hole in the Heart", Davide felt that the compositions would be suitable as a collection of music to be listened to in their own right.

Setting about expanding and orchestrating his original score, he involved several distinctive musicians, who each contributed their special sound to the album.

The first album from POLARIS, featuring RobertoManes on violin. Key rule is to keep every note live, overdubs being only created on the spot by means of loop delay. The result is a rich and atmospheric music environment, mixing ambient soundscapes with African and funk rhythms.
