Al-Quds: Who Hinders the Peace Process?

The Western and Israeli media were quick to put blame on the Palestinian Authority, that it was the Palestinians who obstructed the peace process as a result of the positions taken during the Camp David Summit.

These accusations came, to a large degree, as a result of remarks made by President Bill Clinton where he praised Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak while commenting with caution the Palestinians position which was described as not going as far as the Israelis during the Summit.

The Media and the American Administration ignored the fact that Israel is the one who refuses to implement UN Resolution 242 and 338, which call for the withdraw of Israeli forces from Palestinian territory occupied in June 1967, including Jerusalem. From what is logical and internationally accepted, the flexibility that is required from the Palestinian and Israeli side must be within international legitimacy, not flexibility towards concession the United States and Israel want the Palestinians to make.

When Israel insists on overall sovereignty on the Mosque, knowing that the Mosque is an inseparable part of Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories, and that it is Muslim, Arab and the third holiest shire, the responsibility for hindering the peace process lies on Israel, not the Palestinians who are asking for the implementation of international opinion, which Israel with the support of the United States is trying to bypass by all means of pressure and political maneuvers.

So the question to the Western and Israeli press is, Why do you close your eyes to the settlement activity and expansions and the provocative acts by Jewish extremists at the Haram al-Sharif (the Temple Mount).
