==The project initiator is art-tracks, an organization established in London (UK) in 2002, as a result of the shared vision of practitioners from the diverse worlds of visual and performing arts, music, publishing, education, business, new technologies and the environment.
The project aims to establish a residential centre for the promotion, research and production of new directions amongst international practitioners in the arts, education and cultural policy-making.
The centre will provide a unique and dynamic environment in which artists, groups and organizations can work creatively towards developing new ways of thinking, understanding and interacting, through multidisciplinary experimentation and exchange.
The centre will be based in the heart of Italy, offering superb accommodation, workshops, studios and performance spaces. A number of properties are being examined. These range from a medieval Abbey to medieval and renaissance hamlets and small villages, all offering interesting and flexible structures, some ready to be used, others with various degrees of refurbishment required.
The first phase of research and preparation has been completed.
The second phase for the choice and purchase of the property is under way and dependent upon funding.
Following completion of restoration the centre will typically provide:
- meeting/conference/projection and teaching area .
- fully equipped office with a multimedia production unit, including digital video and audio, and a high band connection to the internet.
- performance area with wooden floor, rigging for aerial acrobatics, PA system, audio recording facilities, video projection and a modular stage.
- studio and workshop for painting, sculpture and crafts.
- outdoor covered performance space.
- surrounding land in which to roam and use for site-specific art, architectural and environmental projects.
- total silence and unspoiled view in an environmentally protected area.
- self contained residential apartments.
- self-contained apartments and one large communal accommodation for up to 20 participants.
- communal dining area.
